Why Betty Bunhead & Friends?
We were, we believe, Australia's first commercial dance headwear designer and we've been maturing our styles and manufacturing techniques commercially for the better part of 20 years. We are confident that our design and craftsmanship has evolved to a level of artistry and sophistication unmatched by any other designer in the Australian market, although our work remains very competitively priced.
Each dance tiara or headpiece is handcrafted by Jacqueline Hoole, a 30+ year classical ballet teacher who is uniquely placed both to appreciate what works well on stage and to work closely with young performers and their parents, teachers and costumers to make the process of designing the perfect dance headpiece as simple and flawless as possible. Jacqueline has been trusted by young dancers - including those competing at the highest levels - to design their stage headwear for almost 2 decades.
How Do I Order?
That's simple - talk to Jacqueline! We generally have some pre-made pieces available for immediate purchase on this website, but, if not (as is the case for a large majority of clients), your tiara will be custom made. The process, from a client's perspective, is simple and straightforward. But, because Jacqueline will need to gather some information from you - and because there are some choices to make - it's best to let Jacqueline talk you through. E-mail enquiries are welcome, but we have found it much more productive to talk over the phone or via Facebook messenger ( https://www.facebook.com/bettybunheadheadwear/). Facebook actually works well for this as it allows for the sharing of photographs etc.
Jacqueline does try to accommodate rush orders but can't always do so. It takes some time to make your tiara or headpiece and we generally have a waiting list, so please allow at least 3-4 weeks if possible. Even if you don't yet have all details (such as if, for example, you are trying to match a new tutu), it's best to book your project in early.
How Much Can I Expect to Pay?
Most "classic" dance tiaras are in the order of $140-$155 plus postage, and "couture" dance tiaras are generally priced between $150 and $300. The pre-made tiaras on this website or Facebook page should give you some idea of prices.
Do You Ship Internationally?
Yes, Jacqueline makes tiaras for International clients quite regularly. This website is not currently designed to support International purchases, but Jacqueline is happy to speak with prospective clients from the USA, UK, Canada and New Zealand. Note that International shipping is via Australia Post, so you will need to investigate customs, duties and taxes fees and processes.
